About Living Lebanon

Saskia Nout was born and raised in The Netherlands. Following a career in oncology clinical research, she realized she desired a change of life. After travelling through large parts of the Middle East (Egypt, Iran, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco), she developed a great interest and passion for the region. In May 2012, she left to Beirut to study Arabic and explore the possibility to start a life there. As time passed by, she found her way around and became transfixed by the beauty of the country. This inspired her to write a travel guide and ultimately to establish a complete platform on living and traveling in Lebanon. During her years of residing in Lebanon, she fully explored the country, while slowly unraveling the deeper layers of its charm and opportunities.

"Considering its small size and complicated past, Lebanon is a great country. It has a large variety of nature, history and culture offering the perfect basis to indulge in almost any activity you can think of. Lebanese people are incredibly welcoming, which surely enriches one’s experience. The drawback of the country is that it is not easy to travel in. Information on internet is scarce, public transport is limitedly organized, and in many areas, street and road signs are missing or appear only in Arabic. My goal was to create a platform with comprehensive information, guiding expats, foreign students and tourists their way to a genuine Lebanese experience, while travelling and exploring the country. I hope people will enjoy and fall in love with Lebanon just like I did!"
