If you are staying in Beirut for a longer period of time, you might want to consider renting an apartment or finding yourself a room in a shared apartment. Do not expect low prices, as Beirut in particular has one of highest rental rates in the world.

For a small one-bedroom apartment or a room in a shared apartment in areas such as Hamra, Gemmayzeh , Mar Mikhael or Achrafieh, expect to pay between 500 and 800 USD, with slightly higher prices during summer.

It is useful to verify whether the apartment has a generator in order to cover electricity during power cuts.

For information on rental options in Beirut, join the Facebook group called ‘Apartments in Beirut (for Renters and Rentees)’ or check the sites of Beirut flats and Ahlein.net. Airbnb and couchsurfing are also becoming more popular. The Daily Star newspaper also advertises apartments, although these listings tend to be more for luxurious and expensive housing.
