For a taxi to Baalbek from Beirut, expect to pay around 100,000 LBP. Duration: 75 min. A return trip from Beirut can be negotiated for about 120,000 LBP for half a day and about 180,000 LBP for a full day, which is probably worthwhile if you are with more people and/or plan to combine a visit to Baalbek with other sights and activities in the area.
From Beirut by car, Baalbek is reached by the winding, heavy traffic Beirut-Damascus highway. From Beirut, the highway passes Hazmiyeh, Baabda, Bhamdoun and Chtaura. In Chtaura, take the left fork toward Zahle and Taalabaya and continue straight following the signs to Baalbek. Duration: 75 min. (from Zahle: 20 min.).
