From Bcharre, the easiest way to find a taxi is to go to the square in front of the big white church of St Saba, or to arrange a ride with the owner of Tiger House (+961 (0)6 672 480). Try not to pay more than 15,000 LBP. Ask the driver to drop you off at the Deir Mar Elisha monastery. Duration: 30 min. To return to Bcharre by taxi, it is best to make arrangements in advance as the availability of taxis in the valley is minimal.
From Bcharre to the Qadisha Valley by car, take the main road in the direction of Hasroun. After about three kilometers, take a small exit to the right (just after restaurant Reef on your left) following the signs to Qannoubine Valley and Convent St Elisee. A narrow, curvy road will lead you down into the valley. Duration: 30 min.
Although a sign is missing and the path is rather unclear, there is a way to walk down to the valley from Bcharre.To reach the path, follow the large concrete steps leading down from behind the right side of the big white church. After about 5 minutes you will cross a newroad from where you have to continue straight down following a narrow and badlymaintained path with few signs of old steps. Try to stay close to the rocky wall while walking down. After about 20 minutes you will cross some apple fields, from where you keep on going down until you find a path with a wooden rail on both sides. Follow this path until you reach the Deir Mar ElishaMonastery. Duration: 30 - 40 min. The valley floor can also be reached by a steep path from Dimane or by following a more pleasant pathway down from Hasroun. There is also a walkway leaving from the lower old town of Hadchit.
