From Beirut, minibuses to Zahle leave from Cola and will drop you off at the small roundabout just southeast of Zahle. From there it is a 20 minute’ walk to the center of town; just continue straight and follow the river. If you travel on a bus to Baalbek, ask the driver to drop you off at the large roundabout on the highway about two kilometers southeast of Zahle, from where it is a five minute’ walk to the small roundabout described above. Duration: about 1.5 hr. / Costs: 4,000 LBP.
From Chtaura, a Servees to Zahle takes about 15 minutes and is most likely to be found in the morning (about 10,000 LBP). For a taxi from Beirut, expect to pay around 60,000 LBP.
By car from Beirut, Zahle is reached by the winding, heavy traffic Beirut-Damascus highway. From Beirut, follow the highway passing Hazmiyeh, Baabda, Bhamdoun and Chtaura. In Chtaura, take the left fork toward Zahle and Taalabaya. About six kilometers after the fork, take another left at the large roundabout toward ‘centre ville Zahle'. Duration: 1 hr.
