Located just one kilometer south of Kaslik, the charming and restored 17th-century souq area of Zouk Mikael is worth a detour. The area hosts some attractive bars and restaurants, which mostly fill up in summer.

In July or August, an annual one-week International Music Festival takes place in and around the Roman amphitheater opposite the souqs. For the program, check www.zoukmikaelfestival.org. 

To get there by car from Kaslik, follow the signs to Zouk Mikhael. Once Zouk Mikhael, the old souq (‘Vieux Souk’) and amphitheater are clearly signposted. If you do not have your own transport, the best way to get to Zouk Mikael is to take a taxi from Jounieh (about 6,000 LBP).
