Martyrs Square, Downtown
Beirut Highlights

The Martyrs' Statue was built in 1930 by the Italian sculptor Marino Mazzacurati, during the French mandate.

It represents the martyrs who died fighting against the Ottoman empire.
The National Day for Martyrs is on the 6th of May.

In 1996, the statue was restored by the Holy Spirit University in Kaslik, leaving on purpose, the holes from the bullets in it from the war of 1975 until 1990.

The Martyrs' Square is facing Mohammad Al Amine Mosque, one of the biggest in the Middle East region, and one of the most beautiful inside and out!
