Located in the Akkar region 1500 meters above sea level, Jabal Qammouah is a paradise of pine tree forests, rugged mountains and river streams; a perfect place for hiking or a picnic. From December through April, the snow peaked mountains surely add to the beauty of this area.
To get there by car from Tripoli (about 55 kilometers), take the highway to the north. Continue straight at the checkpoint near Deir Ahmar until you reach a roundabout where you turn right toward Halba. After about 100 meters, just before the small gas station, again turn right toward Bebnine. After about 7.5 kilometers, take the right fork toward Bezal from where you continue straight until you reach a plateau. Just below the top of the mountain, another 15 minute’ drive up after the checkpoint, the road becomes a dirt road. Duration: about 1.75 hr. From there, you can either drive (4x4 required) or hike around the top of the mountain.
