Monastery of St Elias al-Tuwak

If you are interested in Ottoman architecture, it is worthwhile to stroll around Zahle’s old center. Good examples are the 17th-century private Geha House and the Serail (1885), as well as the early 20th-century Hotel America.

In addition, some attractive religious buildings decorate the town’s center, such as Saydet Zalzaly (Zahle’s oldest church) and the Monastery of St Elias al-Tuwak dating from 1755. For spectacular views, take the elevator up to the 54-meter high tower of Our Lady of Zahle and the Beqaa.
