The traditional and attractive souqs of Saida (closed on Fridays) consist of narrow labyrinthine streets and are great for strolling around and enjoying the medieval atmosphere. Artisans, workers, food, tea, nargileh and backgammon are all to be found there.

Try the crumbly ‘Senioura’ butter cookie; it is the local specialty.
