Recently renovated and re-opened in June 2014, the attractive Sanayeh Gardens (Emile Eddé (Lyon) Street) were designed by the Ottomans in 1907 and are the oldest and biggest public gardens in Beirut.

The open green space is a popular place among Beirut’s residents, where tables and shade attract card and backgammon players and kids can enjoy the children playgrounds. Both a bike and skate track go all around, making the gardens also ideal for joggers. The large Al-Hamidiyeh fountain in the middle of the gardens dates from the 1900s.
