The Main Street of the residential neighborhood of Badaro, known as Badaro Street and named after a wealthy businessman, is well on its way to re-becoming Beirut’s new hot spot for dining and drinking. The area was planned mid 1950's along the eastern border of Horsh Beirut and just south of the Beirut’s National Museum.
With the onset of the civil war - and with Badaro’s location on the Green Line – this buzzing area was transformed into a ghost town as many residents fled their homes and bars and restaurants had to shut down loosing their customers. Yet, Badaro, with its wide roads, has regained its appeal and over a period of just a year, the area has become occupied with cozy eateries and fancy bars, including well-known chains such as Bodo, Lina’s, Dany’s, Wall Street and Onno. The street even has its own Facebook page.
