Located between olives groves high up the mountain about five kilometers south of Tripoli, this nicely restored 12th-century monastery is part of Balamand University and worth a visit if you have your own transportation. It consists of a main church, a cobblestoned courtyard, arched cloisters and a library.

To reach the monastery from Tripoli, follow the coastal highway to the south. Some seven kilometers past Tripoli and five kilometers before Enfe, follow the signs to Balamand University.
