Byblos Harbor

The current shallow harbor of
Byblos is likely the old fishing
harbor. At both sites of the
entrance are the remains of a
defensive tower added by the
Crusaders and reshaped by the
Mamluks; in the water the
ramparts are still visible.

The Old Souqs and Roman Road

The attractive renovated souqs in
Byblos were constructed during
Ottoman times. Just before entering
the old souqs, the remains of a
Roman road including colonnades are
on your right.

Saint John the Baptist Church
(Eglise St Jean Marc)

The Roman church of Saint John
the Baptist was built in 1115,
and several structures, such as the
13th-century cupola, were added
over time. In the 18th century,
emir Youssef Shehab passed the
church to the Maronites.

Sultan Abdul Majid Mosque

The 1648 blue-domed Ottoman
Sultan Abdul Majid mosque is
located next to the tourist office
and was restored in 1783.
